OREANDA-NEWS  Lebanon has asked Russia for help in de-escalating the conflict with Israel. This is reported by RBC with reference to the adviser to the former president of Lebanon, Michel Aoun, and the head of the commission of the Free Patriotic Movement party for relations with Russia, Amal Abu-Zeid.

"We are looking for support from Russia, because Russia can certainly play an important role. She has certain ties to Iran and Hezbollah. They still manage to talk to the Israelis," the diplomat explained.

Abu-Zeid said that he is in constant contact with Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Special Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East, and has repeatedly contacted him over the past month. He also noted that Moscow "does not act openly" because of the attention of Western countries.
