OREANDA-NEWS. Russia expects that Western countries, recalling the experience of the Yalta Conference, will respond to the proposed peace initiatives. This was announced on Monday by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a cancellation ceremony for a postage stamp dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Yalta Conference.
“More recently, in Jerusalem, speaking in the framework of the Holocaust Memory Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized: “Forgetting the past, disunity in the face of threats can turn into terrible consequences. ”I think our partners will remember that invaluable experience in the name of ensuring peaceful a prosperous future for humanity", he said, adding that Russia is always open for such constructive work and puts forward relevant initiatives. In Russia, Lavrov continued, they hope that such initiatives "will receive a constructive response".
The Russian Foreign Minister recalled that the Yalta Conference of 1945 was a milestone in the diplomatic annals of the Second World War, because it made "fateful decisions on key issues of the post-war world order, including the creation of the United Nations".
