OREANDA-NEWS. The Kremlin has not yet received proposals to hold a G20 Leaders Summit without a personal presence on countering coronavirus infection. This was announced on Tuesday by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.
"I don’t know if there was anything through diplomatic channels, but we haven’t received more detailed information yet, we have seen media reports", a Kremlin spokesman said.
Answering the question whether it's possible to conduct such confidential communication of leaders located in different countries, Peskov noted that a “so-called red line of communication” has been established between some states. According to him, we are talking about protected from external penetration lines of communication, which "allow more or less secret negotiations". "Of course, discussing some sensitive issues through open communication channels seems very difficult in the modern world", the Kremlin representative added.
Earlier, the press service of the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced following a telephone conversation with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud, that Riyadh would convene an urgent and extraordinary meeting of G20 leaders “in person in the coming days to discuss” situations around the spread of the new coronavirus.
