Kremlin Didn't Receive Invitations to the Inauguration of Zelensky
The inauguration of Vladimir Zelensky, who is elected president of Ukraine, will be held on May 20. This decision at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada was supported by 315 parliamentarians with the necessary minimum of 226 votes. The newly elected president himself insisted on swearing him in on May 19.
In his opinion, the current authorities are setting aside this date in order to deprive him of the right to dissolve the Verkhovna Rada by law. However, only 207 deputies supported this date. A large number of members of parliament refused to accept May 19 as a date for inauguration, because this day is very important for all residents of Ukraine, it was on this date that the whole country remembers the victims of political repression. Deputies considered the choice of this day extremely inappropriate for celebrations after the official entry into office. Previously, the Verkhovna Rada Regulatory Committee considered seven projects concerning the date of the inauguration of Zelensky, and recommended that the parliament vote on each of them.
The inauguration must take place within 30 days after the official publication of the election results and their publication in the Golos Ukrainy newspaper, that is, no later than June 3. The elected president also reported readiness to leave many acting officials.
