OREANDA-NEWS The Japanese company Japan Tobacco intends to continue its business in Russia "as far as possible", the head of the company Masamichi Terabake said in an interview with Kyodo news agency.
He noted that the company has a choice to sell the business in Russia, but "as far as possible, we will continue," said the president of Japan Tobacco. Terabatake also said that the company partially restored the work of its enterprises in Ukraine, as employees wanted to continue working. The company intends to invest 300 billion yen (two billion dollars) by the end of 2025 to start supplying tobacco heating systems to 28 countries. "We are developing products that the buyer would choose, but the health risk from which would be small," said the president of the company. After the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the West increased sanctions pressure on Russia.
Disruption of logistics chains has led to an increase in fuel and food prices in Europe and the United States.
The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the country will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began to exert on Russia several years ago and continues to strengthen. Moscow noted that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of sanctions against the Russian Federation. In the Western countries themselves, opinions have repeatedly been voiced that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective.
