OREANDA-NEWS   Citizens of Japan and South Korea who wished to leave Niger were evacuated with the assistance of France, local media reported.

"All 10 Japanese citizens who wished to evacuate Niger have left the country," the Japanese Kyodo news agency reported, citing Hirokazu Matsuno, Secretary General of the Cabinet of Ministers of Japan.

According to him, eight people were taken out early on Thursday morning by a French evacuation flight, two arrived in Paris a day earlier.

Matsuno noted that a small number of Japanese citizens decided to stay in Niger. Tokyo will continue to make every effort to ensure their safety, he added.

In turn, the South Korean Yonhap news agency reports on three citizens of the Republic of Korea evacuated from Niger by plane on Thursday.

"Three people arrived in Paris at 01:45 (02:45 Moscow time)," the agency informed.

It is noted that 11 more South Korean citizens remain in Niger.

On July 26, it became known that some of the employees of the Presidential Guard of Niger opposed President Mohamed Bazoum, who was captured and removed from power. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Niger stated that the military command supported the fighters of the Presidential Guard who opposed Bazum. Army General Abdurakhman Tchiani was announced as the new leader of the country.
