One of the unnamed interlocutors of the agency said that we are talking about a Kilo-class submarine, which was allegedly spotted near Britain about 18 months ago. The second such case occurred "quite recently".

"The scale of the submarine movements went beyond what British officials had previously seen," the newspaper was told.

At the same time, it is noted that American officials knew about the movements of the submarines. The British Ministry of Defense declined to comment on the matter, and a senior official in the administration of American President Joe Biden told the agency on condition of anonymity that the United States was monitoring the activities of the Russian fleet.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, said that he saw no reason to worry about the exercises of the Navy in Cuba. According to the Kremlin representative, military exercises are a normal practice for states in various regions of the world, especially for a major maritime power.
