OREANDA-NEWS   The Indian authorities have decided to suspend an international tender for the construction of six submarines for the country's Navy at their shipyards. This is reported by Bloomberg.

According to the agency, the announcement of the winner of the tender was postponed indefinitely due to complaints from Indian contractors that companies from Germany and Spain do not fulfill the conditions for technology transfer for the construction of submarines.

It is noted that the failure of the "historic deal" is a significant blow for the government of Narendra Modi, which seeks to receive modern weapons under the Make in India program.

Earlier, the Reuters news agency, citing sources, reported that India would abandon Russian weapons in favor of American ones. It is noted that Moscow is the largest supplier of weapons to New Delhi, which are needed in border disputes with Pakistan and China.
