In Turkey, the Russian Map was Erased from the Sculpture at the Request of Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. Ukrainian diplomats were deeply outraged by a sculpture in a popular Turkish resort with a map of Russia, as it follows from the message of the country's Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova on Facebook.
She wrote that during one of the international art festivals in the city of Alanya, on one of the sculptures, the author of which was a citizen of Russia, they noticed a map of Russia with the Crimea as a part of the country, which she called "occupied" territory.
According to her, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry "immediately took action" in response to this. In particular, Consul Emir Rustamov visited Alanya and appealed to the mayor of the city, Adem Murat Yudzhel, with a demand to remove the allegedly wrong card.
As can be seen in the photograph published by Dzhaparova, the city authorities have erased the map, which caused such a violent reaction from the representative of Ukraine.
Moscow has repeatedly stressed that the peninsula was reunited with Russia after a referendum held in full compliance with international law, as a result of which the overwhelming majority of the region's residents spoke in favor of reunification with Russia. According to Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue is "finally closed."
