In the Odessa Region, the Editorial Office of the Local Media Was Set on Fire
OREANDA-NEWS. On Wednesday night, unidentified persons set fire to the editorial office of Alternatio.org in the Odessa Region, the head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, Sergiy Tomilenko, reported.
“On the night of October 21, the editorial office of Alternatio.org was set on fire in Ovidiopol, Odessa Region. This is the second crime committed against the local independent media within a week. On Saturday, October 17, the editor-in-chief of Alternatio, Roman Varshanidze was beaten up by three unknown persons during filming,” Tomilenko wrote on his Facebook page. He informed that, according to witnesses, two unidentified persons broke the window and threw a Molotov cocktail at it.
“The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine condemns the attack on the journalist, protests against the gross intimidation of the media, which is the arson of the editorial office, and calls on law enforcement officers to promptly investigate the crimes,” Tomilenko added.
