In the European Union Will Be Excluded Double Standards of Product Quality
She published on Monday the results of a study of almost 1,400 food products conducted in 19 EU countries using a single methodology and designed to identify double quality standards.
It was revealed that 9% of the compared products differ in composition, although their packaging is completely identical. Another 22% of products with different composition had similar packaging. The study did not show sustainable patterns on a geographical basis, i.e. between the West and the East of the EU.
Based on the developed methodology, the EC communiqué notes, national competent authorities will be able to carry out specific Union-wide checks on individual products in order to identify misinforming practices prohibited by EU consumer protection laws.
