OREANDA-NEWS  Swedish MP Markus Selin demanded that the Russian trade representative office located near Stockholm be closed. This is stated in the deputy's address to the Minister of Foreign Trade of the country, Benjamin Dawes.

"Sweden, the EU and other countries are providing Ukraine with financial, humanitarian, military and legal support. As part of this, the EU has so far imposed 14 packages of sanctions against Russia, in which sanctions contain restrictions on the import and export of goods and services in a number of sectors of the economy," Selin writes.

At the same time, Russia maintains its trade representative office in Lidinga, where the building is located next to the Embassy of Ukraine. The Trade Representative Office of Russia is part of the structure of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia in order, for example, to promote more Russian goods and services to the Swedish market and to assist Swedish companies planning to establish their own enterprise in Russia and invest in it

In this regard, the deputy asks the government whether it intends to "take any initiatives to close the Russian trade representative office at Lidinga."

Earlier it became known that in 2025 Sweden intends to suspend the agreement on tax agreements with Russia. The agreement was suspended by the Russian side back in August. Since then, Moscow's position has not changed, so Sweden suspends the agreements on its part. However, this does not mean that the agreement is terminated and completely ceases to be valid — it may be renewed in the future, the TASS news agency explained.
