OREANDA-NEWS All dams in St. Petersburg are closed due to the predicted critical level of water rise in the Neva River. A message about this appeared on the Telegram channel of the directorate of the Complex of protective structures (KZS) of the city.
According to forecasters, the wind is expected to increase to 19-24 meters per second in St. Petersburg, and waves on the Neva River may reach 2.5 meters.
"The access of water from the Gulf of Finland to the waters of the Neva Bay has been stopped. Additional information will be provided on the opening time of the KZS gates after the improvement of the hydrometeorological situation," the publication says.
Last year, St. Petersburg managed to prevent a particularly dangerous flood by closing the dam gates. The water level was expected to rise by 160 centimeters.
