OREANDA-NEWS A group of deputies of the far-right party Vox ("Voice") of the lower house of the Spanish parliament appealed to the government of the country with a question about the possibility of a complete termination of trade relations between the European Union and Russia. The text of the parliamentarians' appeal was at the disposal of <url>.
The document on the EU-Russia trade relations was sent by deputies Patricia Rueda Perello, Maria de la Cabeza Ruiz Solas, Jose Maria Figaredo Alvarez-Sala, Andres Alberto Rodriguez Almeida and Mireya Borras Pabon. In their appeal, the parliamentarians refer to a statement made earlier by the Spanish government.
So, on September 9, 2022, the government, citing research data from the Bank of Spain, reported that, according to calculations, due to the possible complete cessation of trade between Russia and the EU, Spain's gross domestic product (GDP) could fall by 1.8 percent. Moreover, according to the Bank, Spain's dependence on Russian energy resources is much less than that of other European countries, and therefore, according to the study, a complete rejection of trade with Russia for Spain will be relatively less painful.
In connection with the above facts, parliamentarians appeal to the government with the question of whether such a scenario is being considered.
