OREANDA-NEWS  The forecast of grain harvest in the Russian Federation in 2024 has been reduced to 130 million tons, and wheat to 83 million tons, follows from the words of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev.

"Taking into account the high technological efficiency of our agricultural producers, by the end of the year we expect a decent harvest, which will fully ensure the domestic market and maintain a high export potential for both raw materials and processed products. In particular, the gross grain harvest will amount to about 130 million tons, including 83 million tons of wheat," Patrushev said at the Golden Autumn agro-industrial exhibition.

The forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation for grain harvest in 2024 was at the level of 132 million tons, including the forecast for wheat was 86 million tons, for oilseeds - 28 million tons.

Patrushev said that 122 million tons of grain have already been harvested. That is, Russia's food security is fully ensured and there is already a good potential for exports, the Deputy Prime Minister added.

He explained that this year Russian farmers faced unprecedented difficult weather conditions. In spring, a number of regions suffered from recurrent frosts, in summer – from drought, and during harvesting – from heavy rainfall.
According to him, now in difficult climatic conditions, the harvest is being completed by farmers of the Siberian regions. In addition, winter sowing continues in the country and the pace does not lag behind last year's. As of today, its area has exceeded 13 million hectares, the Deputy Prime Minister added.
