OREANDA-NEWS In India, authorities have exposed a group of human traffickers, who lured young people into Russia with promises of work as army assistants. In fact, the group was planning to send them to the conflict zone in Ukraine, according to reports from Reuters.
The Indian Embassy in Moscow confirmed one case, and several others were seriously injured. The agency, citing reports from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in India, said that about 35 people had been sent to Russia through this scheme.
"Indian nationals who were victims of human trafficking were coerced into joining the military and sent to the front lines in the Russian-Ukraine conflict zone," the report from the CBI said.
Authorities conducted searches and arrested members of the group in several cities, including New Delhi and Mumbai.
They also seized 50 million Indian rupees ($54.8 million) and various documents and equipment from the traffickers.Earlier, the AFU envied the Russian army due to the large number of volunteer battalions. According to Oleg Starikov, a retired colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine, Ukraine has not been able to attract the same number of volunteers into its ranks.
