In France, the Chimpanzee Bit Off the Hand of a Zoo Employee
OREANDA-NEWS The chimpanzee, still famous for its good temper, in front of the visitors of the zoo in the French department of Loire, bit off the hand of an employee who looked after it, the newspaper Progres writes.
As the director of the zoo in the commune of Saint-Martin-la-Plane, 23-year-old chimpanzee Bambu was born in captivity and had a good disposition. For some strange reason, he attacked the caretaker, who extended his hand to him.
“I don’t understand why he (the chimpanzee) reacted this way, this never happened. The young man knew his character very well, it was a good animal,” said the director of the zoo, Pierre Tivillon.
According to FranceInfo radio, a 30-year-old victim, who lost four fingers and part of a hand, was hospitalized in Lyon in a helicopter.
About ten visitors, who witnessed the bloody scene, were in a state of shock, they needed the help of medical rescuers.
