OREANDA-NEWS. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, more than 305 million people in the world will lose their jobs, about 1.6 billion people will not have livelihood. This is stated in the report of the International Labour Organization (ILO) published on April 29.

Experts note that 1.6 billion people employed in the informal sectors of the economy amount to nearly half of the global workforce. Loss of work threatens employees of companies which activities are limited during the pandemic, as well as enterprises of the most affected industries.

According to ILO specialists' estimates, more than 436 million companies around the world have faced the risks of serious disruptions. 232 million of them work in wholesale and retail, 111 million in manufacturing, 51 million in accommodation and food services, and 42 million in real estate and other entrepreneurial activities.
