OREANDA-NEWS. The management of Naftogaz Ukrainy, as well as other strategic companies of the country, will soon be replaced. This was announced on Monday at a press conference by the Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine Oleksiy Orzhel.

"A political decision was made to change the leadership and start competitions at all strategic companies", said the minister, whose speech was broadcast on the Nash television channel. Orzhel affirmatively answered a clarifying question about whether this would concern Naftogaz management, as well as Ukrenergo, the operator of Ukraine’s energy system. The new leadership will be elected on a competitive basis, he added.

The head of the Ministry of Energy recalled that earlier the government dismissed Yuri Nedashkovsky from the post of president of the Energoatom company, which operates four nuclear power plants in Ukraine. Orzhel noted in this regard that the dismissed heads of state-owned companies will be able to take part in competitions. Earlier in November, the head of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine Timofey Milovanov reported that the government had decided to change leadership in almost 50 state-owned enterprises.
