"In 2023, about 100 thousand Russian tourists visited Hainan Island, and in 2024 this number will exceed 200 thousand," he said, noting that the island plans to receive "more than 500 thousand tourists from the Russian Federation every year."

In 2019, according to the FSB Border Service, 930 thousand tourists from Russia visited Hainan for the purpose of tourism. Before the covid restrictions, charters from Russia flew to the island. At that time, Russia accounted for about half of the foreign flights. Now the tourist flow to the island is just beginning to recover.

Since February, a special regime has been in effect in Hainan, which allows citizens of 59 countries, including Russia, to enter without a visa and stay for up to a month. In addition, direct flights on the Moscow - Haikou and Moscow - Sanya routes were opened in August.

The Eastern Economic Forum is taking place on September 3-6 on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok.
