OREANDA-NEWS  UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has confirmed his participation in the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin told RIA Novosti.

"Even when we were in New York, Guterres met with the Minister (of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov - ed.), he confirmed that he was very seriously preparing for his participation in this forum in Kazan, that is, he confirmed (his participation)," the deputy Foreign Minister told the agency on the sidelines of the VIII International conferences of ombudsmen.

Earlier, Vershinin, who participated in a press conference at the International Multimedia Press Center of the Russia Today Media Group, announced the invitation of the UN Secretary General to the Kazan BRICS summit.
