OREANDA-NEWS Motorola and Lenovo have banned the sale of gadgets in Germany. This is reported by the Android Authority.
The ban was announced by the German District Court. It is reported that the Chinese corporation Lenovo and its subsidiary Motorola were found guilty of violating patents owned by the American technology firm InterDigital. Lenovo intends to appeal the ban.
According to the decree, the sale of all smartphone brands, including devices of the new Motorola Edge 50 line, is prohibited on the territory of the state. Journalists noticed that all references to smartphones have disappeared from the German Motorola website. Lenovo's website states that branded laptops will be available as long as the devices are available in stores.
The article says that earlier in Germany, sales of smartphones by Chinese corporations Oppo and OnePlus were banned — they were accused of violating Nokia patents. However, after some time, the companies settled the disputes.
Motorola is an American company, in particular, known for the production of phones and smartphones. In 2011, the company's mobile division came under the control of Google and Lenovo.
In early April, Apple asked the U.S. Court of Appeals to lift the ban on the supply and sale of the brand's smartwatches. Previously, the sale of new wearable gadgets was banned due to violation of the Masimo patent.
