OREANDA-NEWS. The German authorities are taking advantage of the mechanism developed in the EU to respond to sanctions against cyber attacks to punish those responsible for organizing a hacker attack on the Bundestag in the spring of 2015.
This was stated by Russian Ambassador to Berlin Sergei Nechaev, State Secretary of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs Miguel Berger, the press service of the department said. On behalf of the German government, Berger “harshly condemned” the cyber attack on the Bundestag and said that the German prosecutor’s office issued a warrant for the arrest of Russian citizen Dmitry Badin.
According to German authorities, at the time of the attack on the Bundestag, Badin was an employee of Russian military intelligence and participated in the attack as a member of the APT28 hacker group. It was Badina Berger who named the candidate for inclusion in the EU sanctions list.
