OREANDA-NEWS  In 2024, the import of pigs from Russia to Georgia increased by 20 percent. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the data of the State Service of the republic.

Last year, Georgia did not purchase live sheep, while the supply of cattle increased by 20 percent and reached a record volume of 12.8 million dollars. This is the historical maximum in the history of statistics since 2014.

The supply of pigs increased by almost five million dollars (plus 20 percent) and amounted to 32.9 million dollars. The figure has become a record since 2001. Russia also increased the supply of horses (plus about 25 percent) to 49 thousand dollars.

In 2024, Russia became the main supplier of live cattle to Georgia. Estonia ($1.3 million) and Latvia ($1.1 million) also entered the top three. Russia also became the first in the supply of pigs, Belgium became the closest competitor with an indicator of 307 thousand dollars. In total, animal shipments totaled $45.8 million (plus 14 percent of the figures for 2023).

Earlier it became known that in November 2024, Georgia increased the supply of tangerines to Russia by 25 percent, to 6.9 thousand tons. This result turned out to be a record for this month.
