Foreign Ministry Promised That Russia will Provide Belarus with Access to the Baltic Sea
OREANDA-NEWS. The physical transit of Belarusian exports through Russian ports in the Baltic will soon start working, Moscow and Minsk are discussing the issue of transshipment of potash fertilizers produced in Belarus through them, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"In Russia, the request of the Belarusian side was promptly worked out. The capabilities of the railway and terminals allow us to ensure the transportation and transshipment of oil products produced in Belarus. Now we are completing the coordination with partners of all the necessary details, which will soon launch the physical transit of Belarusian exports through Russian ports in the Baltic." - said the diplomat.
According to him, "on the agenda is the issue of transshipment of potash fertilizers produced in Belarus through Russian ports."
“On the whole, our allies can be sure that Russia, regardless of the political situation, will provide them with access to the sea,” Rudenko stressed.
The issue of redirecting cargo from the Baltic ports arose in Belarus after harsh statements and actions from the Lithuanian side against the background of the situation after the presidential elections, which Lukashenka won. Moscow and Minsk are actively negotiating: agreeing on terms and working out commercial issues. If the Belarusian side agrees to the proposal of the Russian Federation, then the Baltic states may lack a lot of money.
