OREANDA-NEWS. Fighter jet F-35B of the Third Marine Aircraft Wing of the US Army made contact with the tanker aircraft KC-130J in the sky over California State and crashed. This was announced on Twitter by the press service of the military unit.

“At approximately 1600 it was reported that an F-35B made contact with a KC-130J during an air-to-air refueling evolution, resulting in the crash of the F-35B. The pilot of the F-35B ejected successfully and is currently being treated,” the message reads.

It is known that the tanker plane landed near the airport of the city of Thermal, members of its crew were not injured.

An investigation into the crash of military aircraft is currently underway. The reasons for what happened are being investigated.
