OREANDA-NEWS Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said he could veto the adoption of EU anti-Russian sanctions if restrictive measures interfere with a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian conflict, Western media reported on Thursday.
"We will be ready to veto any new sanctions if we consider that they hinder the establishment of peace in Ukraine," Western media quoted Fico as saying.
"We cannot insist on the adoption of sanctions at any cost. There may come a time when we will say that we do not agree with such measures, because we consider sanctions ineffective in the context of a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine," the Slovak Prime Minister explained.
