OREANDA-NEWS. The permanent representatives of the EU member states have begun to formalize sanctions against the Russians involved in the arrest of Alexei Navalny. This was reported by a source to RIA Novosti.

The agency's interlocutor confirmed that a written procedure has just been launched.

The names of those involved in the list are expected to be revealed this week when the list is published in the official magazine.

The decision on restrictive measures against Russian citizens was made by the heads of the foreign ministries of the member states of the association on February 22. They will come into force after the announcement of the list.

As previously reported by the media, the new sanctions are likely to affect "the chairman of the Investigative Committee, Director of the Russian Guard, the Prosecutor General of Russia and the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service."

A court in Moscow on February 2 ruled to cancel Navalny's suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case and replace him with three and a half years in a general regime colony due to numerous violations of the probationary period. The Moscow City Court recognized the decision to replace Navalny's suspended sentence with a real one. He will have to spend about two and a half years in the colony. The European Court of Human Rights refuted the allegations that Navalny was being persecuted solely for his political activities: Strasbourg did not recognize the political motives in the Yves Rocher case, although it awarded compensation for house arrest, which were paid in full by the Russian authorities.
