EU Countries May Adopt a New Package of Sanctions Against Russia on Tuesday

OREANDA-NEWS. A new package of anti-Russian sanctions may be adopted as early as Tuesday, its preparation is being completed by European governments, Bloomberg reports, citing informed sources. It is noted that this time the measures may affect the work of ports, ships, a number of individuals, as well as technologies for military equipment.
European governments are going to finalize new sanctions against Russia, among which are possible restrictions against ports and ships, expanding the list of people under sanctions, as well as further restrictions on technologies used in military equipment, the agency writes.
As the agency clarified, some measures could be considered and taken as early as Tuesday.
Earlier, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner spoke out against imposing bans on the purchase of Russian oil, coal and gas. According to him, refusal to import Russian raw materials can lead to a sharp rise in prices for energy resources not only in Western Europe, but throughout the world. In addition, the minister stressed that it is very difficult to find a replacement for Russia's energy resources. Among the consequences of the refusal of Russian raw materials, he named possible interruptions in energy next winter.
At the same time, Canadian politicians proposed to replace Russian oil with Canadian raw materials. This proposal was made by the Minister of Energy of the Province of Alberta in Canada Sonia Savage and the Prime Minister of the region Jason Kenney.
