OREANDA-NEWS  The Estonian Foreign Ministry has sent a diplomatic note to the Russian Embassy in Tallinn with a proposal to conduct joint measurements of the fairway of the Narva border river, the ERR broadcasting company reports.

"In its note, Estonia states that the countries seem to have different understanding of the direction of the fairway, which is also the basis of the control line between Estonia and Russia. Since conditions in flowing reservoirs can change over decades due to natural conditions, Estonia has proposed to carry out their joint measurements," the message says.

According to ERR, the Estonian Foreign Ministry explained that a joint measurement of the bottom of the Narva River is necessary to resolve disagreements related to whose waters, Russian or Estonian, there were 25 fairway buoys, allegedly removed on the night of May 23.
