"The new phase of the eruption of the Fuego volcano was reported to the rescue services of the CONRED system, which are ready to respond to the growth of volcanic activity," the source says. In the area of the crater of the volcano there are weak and moderate force explosions, there is a release of lava and ash. The authorities monitor the development of the situation, the evacuation of settlements in potentially vulnerable areas has not yet begun.

"From early morning in the crater of the volcano recorded an explosion, a column of ash has spread to 15 kilometers in the Western and South-Western directions, formed the lava flow, 600 m long", — is spoken in the message of the Institute.

In Twitter account, the national service for disaster reduction of Guatemala also reported that the monitoring of the activity of the volcano, as well as liaising with the district authorities on this issue. Due to the risk of an eruption, the section of the RN14 route is closed for public use.

Residents of the region are urged to follow the official reports and, in case of danger, follow the established procedures.
