Erdogan and Merkel Discuss over the Telephone Situation in Syria and Libya

OREANDA-NEWS. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held telephone conversations on Monday. This was reported to reporters in the administration of the Turkish leader. "Our president held telephone conversations with Chancellor Angela Merkel. During them, bilateral relations and regional issues were discussed, including Libya and Syria", the Erdogan administration said.
Meanwhile, on the eve of the Turkish president announced the start of the dispatch of Turkish troops to Libya. According to him, they won't participate directly in the hostilities. Their tasks include "coordinating actions and ensuring the security of a legitimate government". He also added that he was concerned about the situation at the borders.
Currently, there are two executive authorities in Libya in parallel: the internationally recognized Government of National Accord Faiz Saraj in Tripoli and the temporary cabinet of Abdullah Abdurrahman at-Thani, acting in the east of the country together with the parliament and supported by the Libyan National Army Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. On December 12, Haftar announced the start of a decisive offensive on Tripoli.
