OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Embassy in London sent a new note to the Foreign Ministry of the United Kingdom demanding that the information on the circumstances of the murder of Russian businessman Nikolai Glushkov be made public. This was announced on Friday to the Russian media by a spokesman for the Russian diplomatic mission.
“Since we are talking about the murder of a Russian citizen, the interests of his relatives and friends, we will continue to seek from official London comprehensive answers to questions regarding the circumstances of Glushkov’s death. In this regard, the embassy today sent another diplomatic note to the Foreign Office. It's difficult for the embassy to understand why the British the authorities are hiding information about this next mysterious death of a Russian citizen in the UK", he said.
The Russian diplomat noted that after almost a year and a half since the crime, the British side continues to ignore the numerous diplomatic requests about the progress and results of the investigation into this murder. “We regard such behavior of the British authorities as long ago beyond not only the legal framework, but also normal diplomatic communication and decency accepted in interstate interaction”, he added.
Former Aeroflot Deputy Director General Nikolai Glushkov was found dead in his apartment in the New Malden district of London on March 12, 2018. Scotland Yard qualified his death as murder, but the police described the death of the businessman as inexplicable. At the same time, reports were actively circulating in the press that the businessman was strangled by a dog leash. The investigation does not exclude that the person who allegedly could have strangled Glushkov wanted to fake suicide.
The Investigative Committee of Russia previously opened a criminal case on the fact of the murder of Glushkov on the grounds of a crime under Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia. However, London does not agree to proposals for bilateral interagency consultations with the participation of investigators from Russia.
