OREANDA-NEWS. The Cairo Court of Appeals dismissed the claims of the families of people who died aboard the aircraft which crashed over Sinai Peninsula in 2015. According to the plaintiffs, because of “negligence or inadvertence,” the authorities allowed terrorists to carry bomb on board. Official Cairo still considers the crash to be an accident.

Claims were filed against Sherif Ismail, who held a post of Prime Minister of Egypt at the time of the crash, and his three subordinates. Representatives of the defendant asked to postpone consideration of the claim, explaining that the investigation was not yet completed.

On October 31, 2015, the A321 plane of Kogalymavia airline, which flew from Sharm El Sheikh to Saint Petersburg, exploded over the Sinai Peninsula 23 minutes after takeoff. The bomb was hidden in the luggage compartment of the aircraft. The terrorist organization Islamic State took responsibility for the attack. The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the subject of the death of 224 people.
