OREANDA-NEWS. Director General of the Research Institute of Physical Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Technologies Evgeny Blum was detained in Spain. Blum was put on the international wanted list as accused of fraud in the amount of more than $400,000.

This was reported by the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia Svetlana Petrenko. She stressed, that the investigation has already provided the Prosecutor General's Office with all the materials, that should be sent to Spain to request the extradition of the accused.

Blum in Russia is accused of embezzling funds from a freestyle skier patient, Maria Chaadaeva (Komissarova), who went to a doctor for rehabilitation after breaking her spine at the Sochi Olympics in 2014.

The investigation of the case was under the control of the head of the IC of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin. In June 2020, it became known, that the Blum was on the territory of Spain. This was then reported by the official representative of the IC of the Russian Federation Svetlana Petrenko.
