OREANDA-NEWS  The manufacturer of network equipment and software products Cisco Systems in January of this year destroyed its inventory in Russia in the amount of 1.86 billion rubles. This is reported by TASS.

The agency refers to the accounting statements of one of the Cisco legal entities in Russia — Cisco Systems. According to the document, spare parts, "other property, including the IT equipment itself," as well as vehicles, office furniture and appliances, and demonstration equipment were put under the press.

The decision on disposal was made back in August 2022. The reasons for this were the termination of sales, suspension of licenses and Cisco services in Russia, as well as the inability to re-export.

In October 2022, Izvestia found out that an American developer who left Russia could resume deliveries to Russia. According to the interlocutors of the publication, the company intends to import products through an intermediary — the company IBS was named as a distributor. Later, IBS denied negotiations on the organization of equipment imports for the American Cisco.

Against the background of these reports, Deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak said that Russia should prevent the easy resumption of deliveries of departed Western companies such as Cisco. The country should generate demand for its own electronics with Russian software, which will become the basis of technological independence. The niche vacated by Cisco should be occupied by Russian companies, the deputy minister believes.

On March 4, 2022, Cisco announced its support for Ukraine and announced the suspension of operations in Russia and Belarus. In June of the same year, the head office announced its withdrawal from the Russian market.
