OREANDA-NEWS. The US administration openly supports criminals in Hong Kong and intervenes in China’s internal affairs. So, Foreign Ministry spokesman Gen Shuang on Thursday at a briefing commented on the signing by US President Donald Trump of the so-called Hong Kong Democracy and Human Rights Act.

"This is a serious interference in the affairs of Hong Kong, which is the internal affair of China," he said. “We made a rigorous presentation to the American side”, said Geng Shuang. "The United States ignores the facts and the true state of affairs. They openly supported the perpetrators of acts of violence who smash the infrastructure, set fire to arson, interfere with civilians, undermine the rule of law and violate public order", the diplomat added.

The US administration should refrain from applying the previously passed Democracy and Human Rights Act in Hong Kong, otherwise this could affect bilateral relations. So the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry commented on the issue of whether the adoption of this legislative act could affect the trade negotiations between China and the United States.
