OREANDA-NEWS  China does not take sides in the conflict in Ukraine, and has consistently advocated a negotiated solution to the crisis. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, speaking at the Diaoyutai government Residence in Beijing.

"By promoting the resumption of peace talks and the restoration of peace, we are actively preparing not to take sides [in the Ukrainian conflict] and fight for [a settlement of the situation] only through peaceful negotiations," the Chinese Foreign Minister said in a statement following the results of 2023.

Wang Yi stressed that since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, China has consistently made efforts to resolve it politically, including on various international platforms, including the UN. At the same time, the diplomat said, the Chinese side has never used the current crisis to benefit.
