OREANDA-NEWS. China hopes that Russia's chairmanship of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) will further strengthen the influence of the union in the international political arena. This was announced on Friday at a briefing by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Gen Shuang.

"BRICS is a comprehensive global influence mechanism for emerging market economies. In recent years, the BRICS countries have shown increasing solidarity, enhanced practical cooperation and strengthened the influence of this association. BRICS has become a much more important force in international relations", he said.

“We hope that during the Russian chairmanship, cooperation within the BRICS framework will achieve further progress and new results", stressed the diplomat. "China will fully support Russia during its chairmanship and will closely communicate with Russia and other BRICS countries so that the summit in St. Petersburg will be crowned with complete success", said Geng Shuang.
