OREANDA-NEWS  China will never add oil to the fire of the Ukrainian crisis, and even more so will not supply weapons to one side or another of the conflict, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Thursday.

He noted that China is not the initiator or a party to the Ukrainian crisis. At the same time, the PRC does not remain an indifferent observer and actively promotes peace negotiations, as well as promotes a political settlement. "China will never add oil to the fire and take advantage of the opportunity to benefit, and even more so will not supply weapons to any side of the conflict, this position is clear and consistent," a representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said at a briefing. At the same time, Chinese enterprises carry out trade and economic cooperation with all countries, including Russia and Ukraine, according to the rules of the World Trade Organization and market principles, the diplomat added.

He also called on the United States to reflect on the root causes of the crisis and take real steps to achieve peace.

The West has repeatedly voiced claims against China, accusing them of supplying dual-use goods and other types of assistance to the Russian Federation, which it allegedly uses in a special operation in Ukraine. Beijing has repeatedly rejected these accusations, urging Washington not to escalate its rhetoric and refrain from baseless accusations against itself.
