OREANDA-NEWS China has banned the supply of dual-use goods to 28 US defense companies and added 10 of them to the list of unreliable organizations due to Washington's arms sales to Taiwan. The South China Morning Post writes about this with reference to the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China.
Among the companies that have fallen under trade restrictions, the publication names General Dynamics, Boeing Defense, Space & Security, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Raytheon Missiles & Defence. The step is aimed at maintaining national security and fulfilling international obligations, including the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, the article says.
Beijing insists on the "one-China principle," according to which it is impossible to simultaneously recognize both the PRC and the Republic of China, which has existed on the island of Taiwan since 1949. The United States supports the latter in the military sphere, while China opposes the supply of American weapons, regarding them as a violation of the principles of sovereignty.
At the end of last year, it was reported that China imposed sanctions against seven enterprises of the US military-industrial complex due to the sale of weapons to Taiwan. Prior to that, in early December, this Asian country announced a ban on the supply of "dual-use items" related to gallium, germanium, and antimony to Americans, which was a response to new export control measures against China.
