China Explains Who Benefits from Sanctions Against Russia

OREANDA-NEWS. The sanctions imposed since the beginning of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine have allowed the United States to earn a lot, and Europe has brought an outflow of capital. This was stated by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Zhao Lijian, RIA Novosti reports.
“Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the US has been reinforcing unilateral sanctions against Russia and forcing the whole world to choose a side… War and sanctions have brought refugee flows, capital flight and energy shortages to Europe; war and sanctions allowed the US to capitalize on the chaos and make a lot of money,” the diplomat said.
Lijian also stressed that restrictive measures cannot bring peace and security, instead they incur losses for many parties, exacerbating the already difficult situation in the world economy and dealing a blow to the existing world economic system.
Earlier, Lijian said that Washington is to blame for the situation in Ukraine, where the Russian military operation is taking place.
He also noted that China is not going to choose a side of the conflict and use the "friend or foe" approach. In addition, the diplomat urged EU leaders to resist "Cold War thinking" and "block confrontation."
Researcher, doctoral student at the Institute of Knowledge at the University of Plymouth T.J. Coles wrote that the United States has turned Ukraine into a weapon against Russia, for more than 20 years “frantically militarizing” Kyiv and directing efforts against Moscow. According to Coles, this is due to the "paranoid desire" of the United States for "dominance in the full spectrum."
