OREANDA-NEWS. China welcomes the Russian initiative to create a collective security organization in the Persian Gulf. This was announced on Tuesday at a briefing by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Gen Shuang, answering a question from the Russian media.

"I need to clarify this information, but I can give a fundamental answer. The situation in the gulf is extremely complicated, and China is closely monitoring it. Peace and stability in the region are in the interests of all parties", he said. "We welcome all measures and proposals that will positively affect peace and stability in the region, and also intend to maintain contacts with the relevant parties", the diplomat emphasized.

The long-term goal is to create an organization for security and cooperation in the Persian Gulf zone, which, in addition to the Gulf countries as observers or associate members, would include Russia, China, the United States, the EU, India and other interested parties.
