OREANDA-NEWS  Chad's President Mahamat Idris Deby has decided to release Russians detained in the country, including sociologist Maxim Shugaley, Chad's ambassador to Moscow Adam Beshear told RIA Novosti.

"The president has made a sovereign decision to release them," the diplomat said.

Earlier, he told RIA Novosti that the detainees would be released and handed over to the Russian authorities. According to Beshir, four people were detained in total.

Colleagues of the sociologist on Sunday told RIA Novosti that Maxim Shugaley and Summer Sueifan have been held at the airport of the capital of Chad since September 19 without explanation. According to them, the last time Shugaley got in touch on Thursday afternoon, he said that he was not allowed at the border.

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Moscow is taking all necessary measures to release three Russian citizens and a Belarusian citizen detained in an African country: Russians Shugaley, Sueifan, Tsarev and a Belarusian citizen Denisevich.
