California Declared State of Emergency Mode due to Fires
OREANDA-NEWS. In California (USA), a state of emergency was declared due to numerous fires. This was announced by the Governor Gavin Newsom.
More than 30 hotbeds of fire have been registered; a third of the fires have occurred in the past two days. Several hectares of forests are on fire. Extreme heat and frequent thunderstorms contribute to the spread of fire.
Authorities warn population of the state of massive blackouts. Problems with electricity will arise in the homes of 3 million people; hundreds of thousands of Californians have already faced power outages.
Weather forecasters are confident that the heat will not subside until the end of the week and will continue to move along the west coast of the United States.
On August 17, the US National Weather Service reported that a global temperature record was set in Death Valley. The thermometer showed 54.4 degrees Celsius.
