OREANDA-NEWS American billionaire Elon Musk may be summoned to the British parliament to speak to MPs about the role of the social network X belonging to him in the protests against migrants that have engulfed the country. This is reported by Politico.

According to the publication, British MPs from the Labour Party Chi Onwura and Dawn Butler expressed their intention to force Musk and other owners of social networks to answer questions from parliamentarians about the role of online platforms in the growing unrest in the UK, provoked by the attack of a teenager on a dance studio. Three children died as a result of the attack.

The publication notes that after the attack, rumors about the attacker's origin spread on the social network X. He was mistakenly called an asylum seeker who had just arrived in the UK, which provoked riots against immigrants.

Onvura, a Labor member, said in an interview with the publication that he intends to find out during a conversation with the owners of social networks how the algorithms of the platforms "promote and strengthen disinformation and the spread of racial hatred." Butler, in turn, said that X "must be responsible for preventing incitement to racial hatred."

Earlier, Musk criticized the words of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer about the inadmissibility of attacks on Muslims during the riots.
