Boris Johnson Proposed to "Rename" Himself in Honor of the God of the North Wind
OREANDA-NEWS. The British Prime Minister has proposed to rename it in honor of the god of the northern stormy wind and become Boreas Johnson because of his support for renewable energy sources, writes The Guardian.
During his speech at the UN General Assembly, the British politician raised the problem of global climate change.
The UK and the Netherlands have managed to build huge forests of wind turbines in the North Sea that generate large amounts of energy, he said. In this regard, the prime minister jokingly suggested changing his name in honor of the god of the north wind and becoming "Boreas" Johnson.
However, the politician did not stop there and again turned to antiquity, quoting the Athenian playwright Sophocles.
"Many often refer to Sophocles, who said that there are many terrifying things in the world, but there is nothing worse than man. But in fact, Sophocles said that man is Deinos, and this is not only something terrifying, but also beautiful - and he was right, "the minister concluded.
Thus, he called on humanity to grow up and deal with environmental problems.
The UN General Assembly on September 14 opened the 76th session. The general debate will take place from September 21 to 27. At the end of September, the so-called segment of "high meetings" is traditionally held with the participation of the heads of state and government of the UN member states.
