Biden was Threatened with Court Due to Compulsory Vaccination
OREANDA-NEWS. Attorneys general of 24 American states wrote a letter to US President Joe Biden, in which they threatened to go to court in connection with the introduction of compulsory coronavirus vaccination for federal employees and employees of private companies, government contractors.
Earlier, the state of Arizona has already applied to the court with a demand to recognize the latest initiatives of the US administration as unconstitutional.
“We, the attorneys general of the 24 states, are writing to protest your attempt to make vaccinations mandatory for individuals ... Your plan is disastrous and counterproductive. Politically, this decree is unlikely to win hearts and minds - it will just lead to more skepticism . And at least some Americans will just leave the labor market instead of submitting, "- says the lawyer's appeal to Biden, quoted by the Hill newspaper.
Attorneys general, including representatives of mainly Republican states - Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas and others, argue that Biden's decision is "illegal". They attribute this to the fact that the president used a rarely used provision of the law, the application of which has been contested several times in court.
"We urge you to rethink the illegal and malicious plan and allow people to make their own decisions. If your administration does not change course, the undersigned state attorneys general will pursue all available legal options to hold you accountable and uphold the rule of law," they wrote in letter.
In a televised address to the nation, Biden previously presented a strategy for furthering the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The list of initiatives includes a decree requiring all federal employees and employees of companies - contractors of the federal government to be vaccinated. The new vaccination requirements cover about 100 million Americans, two-thirds of the country's workforce, he said.
