OREANDA-NEWS. The Lebanese authorities are not related to the arrival in Lebanon from Japan of the former head of the Franco-Japanese automotive alliance Renault - Nissan - Mitsubishi Carlos Gon, who was under house arrest. This was stated by Lebanese State Minister for Presidential Affairs Salim Jreisati in an interview published Wednesday with reporters of an American newspaper.
"The Lebanese government has nothing to do with his escape", said Jreisati. "We did not know anything about the circumstances of his departure." The State Minister clarified that the Lebanese authorities expect Japan to transmit information related to the Ghon. Jreisati said that the Lebanese government had repeatedly sent requests for extradition of Gon to Japanese officials, but received no response. The publication notes that the Lebanese authorities had previously expressed their willingness to bring corruption charges to Ghosn. As Jreisati explained, this can happen only after the Japanese side transfers the requested information.
According to the sources of the publication, the entrepreneur’s escape from Japan was prepared for several months. He allegedly was on board a private plane, which first arrived from Japan to Turkey, and then proceeded to Lebanon. According to the publication, Ghosn believes that in Lebanon his trial may be fairer than in Japan.
