OREANDA-NEWS  The Austrian authorities have lifted the veto on Romania and Bulgaria's entry into the Schengen area. This is reported by Puls 24 with reference to a statement by the Austrian Ministry of the Interior.

"The Schengen country is now also open to Romania and Bulgaria," the portal quotes the head of the department, Gerhard Karner.

The minister said that Vienna will approve the accession of both countries to the Schengen area at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Interior of the European Union on Thursday in Brussels.

Earlier it became known that Romania and Bulgaria will fully enter the Schengen area from January 1, 2025.
